Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your phone number.
Vehicle Information
We collect your vehicle registration number, make, model, and year. We use this to retrieve MOT and tax information from the DVLA/DVSA APIs on your behalf.
Uploaded Documents
You may upload vehicle documents (V5C logbooks, insurance certificates, service records). These are stored securely and only accessible to you.
Usage Data
We collect anonymous usage data including pages visited and features used to improve our service.
2. How We Use Your Information
- •To provide and maintain the Service, including MOT reminders, vehicle health tracking, and digital service history.
- •To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
- •To connect you with your preferred garage for service bookings and advisories.
- •To process accident claims through our partner network when you request this service.
- •To send you important notifications about your vehicle (MOT expiry, tax reminders).
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to operate MyMechanik:
Supabase — Authentication and secure data storage
DVLA/DVSA — Vehicle registration and MOT history lookups (UK Government APIs)
Resend — Transactional email delivery (notifications and password resets)
Vercel — Application hosting and content delivery
Google AI (Gemini) — AI-powered dashboard warning light analysis and document scanning (images are processed but not stored by Google)
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. Authentication is managed through Supabase with secure session tokens. We do not store passwords in plain text.
5. Your Rights (GDPR / UK Data Protection Act 2018)
You have the right to:

- •Rectification — Correct any inaccurate personal data via Account Settings.
- •Erasure — Delete your account and all associated data at any time via Account → Delete Account.

6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will permanently remove all your personal data, vehicle records, and uploaded documents within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.

8. Children's Privacy
MyMechanik is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
